I am a black and white she cat with yellow eyes. I am strong, fierce and intelligent. I will fight for what I believe. Expect to be treated how you treat me. I am now Silentstar of ThunderClan. Although not being in ThunderClan, I was taken there as a kit and grew up under that impression. I have always lived with a group of cats though-being born in the mountains in a group called PineTops. I don't remember my real parents all that well, though I have met my father who is dead.I learn by watching and listening. When I was old enough, I was always getting into trouble. I slipped away many times and explored other Clan's territories and the two-leg nests, not to mention other places I wasn't supposed to be. I almost got caught by a two-leg, but managed to get away. I was more careful after that! I became intelligent, more independent, and was molded into the cat I am today. I was, and still am, an independent and proud cat. Sounds like a ShadowClan cat right? Maybe, but I'm no ShadowClan cat. I'm happy to say I'm a ThunderClan cat with loyalty and bravery. I never dreamed of becoming the Deputy of ThunderClan, let alone the leader. Not long after becoming a Warrior, I was made Deputy. When Shadowstar left, I became the Leader. I am now Silentstar and try to do the best for ThunderClan and its members but sometimes being Leader is too much to handle.... I found a place in the forest away from camp and that I think no other cat knows about-its a portion of the stream with a big sunning rock and a hollowed out tree nearby that is protected well from the elements. This is my escape and place to think. I hate having to sleep in the Leader's den-it's big and lonely not to mention cold. When I can't stand it, I'll slip away from camp after the others are asleep and sleep in the hollow tree, making my way back to camp before sun-up. A cat came from the White Mountains and he is....different to say the least. His name? I won't tell his real name yet, but to me he is the Mysterious One. This tom treats me like royalty which doesn't sound that bad, but if you were me you wouldn't be able to stand it-well at least I can't. I understand there is a certain respect that is supposed to be given to the Leader if the cats think that they deserve it, but this tom goes above and beyond what is necessary. For some reason this really irks me. I know I like him as he is unlike any other tom I've ever met before. I want to live like a normal cat, not have to put other's lives in my paws...I have been strong for my Clan, but soon I have to find my own way and follow where my paws and heart calls me. Silentstar looked back momentarily on the ThunderClan camp. She trusted Wraith and Onixflame to keep things under control. She turned and made her way away. Silentstar was leaving to travel along the forest line-where the forest met the mountains. It was the edge of the unknown territories. She had never explored more than the Clan territories, but she felt an inexplicable need to leave although she knew she shouldn't have left her Clan. Silentstar had no idea where she was going, simply following her own paws. She walked through the familiar undergrowth until she came to a stream at the base of the mountain. Silentstar got on top of a rock and looked out over the land; she could see ThunderClan's forests, WindClan's moors in the distance, RiverClan's marshes, the lake as well as ShadowClan's pines, and the tops of the two legs houses. Silentstar saw the sun setting so she sat and watched until the sun had gone down before drinking some water and curling up in the roots of a nearby tree. She watched the stars slowly come out and breathed in the smells of the forest, her ears perked to listen to the sounds. Quick footsteps could be heard and Silentstar carefully peered out. She saw a small black and gray creature with a black mask and a ringed tail. She'd never seen this creature before but it looked similar to a badger yet sly as a fox so she decided not to confront it unless it bothered her first. Silentstar could tell the animals here were bigger than those of the forest and at one time in the night she heard what sounded like a cat's scream yet so totally different than any she had heard before. With the new sun Silentstar hunted and quickly caught a squirrel. She padded onward before it got too late. The leaves underfoot were unfamiliar and made for noisy progress. Silentstar had to step very lightly and practiced her footing as she followed the water up into the mountains. She made it aways upstream before stopping for a rest. She had seen big strange brown creatures that were similar to horses but smaller and more graceful. It was eerie as there was no cat groups around these parts. Silentstar again found shelter and fell into an exhausted sleep. Hardly did she seem to close her eyes before warm sunlight on her fur woke her. Silentstar still had no course of action so continued to follow the stream. She now took the time to enjoy being out and to observe her surroundings. The birds here were bold and sung loudly, even when she passed underneath. The ground creatures were busy with their lives, scuttling about hurriedly and unbothered. <Such easy prey> Silentstar thought to herself as she observed the animals. She felt like a kit again, where everything was new and spectacular. Silentstar's whiskers twitched as she paused. It had become quieter and heavy paw steps could be heard with snuffling and snorts of irritation. She pelted for the nearest tree and scrabbled up. The bark on these trees wasn't as easy to get a claw hold on. She made it to the lowest branch and crouched there waiting, her ears straight forward listening intently and her eyes scanning through the sparse trees. The she-cat didn't have to wait long; a very big, black shape soon came into view. Silentstar watched in awe. It was a bear, the claws thicker and longer than any cat's she had seen-including Wraith's deadly claws. Silentstar yowled at the bear, but it simply turned its great head to look at her curiously for a moment before turning away. It lumbered slowly off to look for berries. Silentstar jumped down and landed lightly, staring after the bear in wonder. A half-hearted swipe from one of those paws and a cat would be deformed and dead for sure. Coming to herself Silentstar continued on. Following the stream up the mountain, she hunted along the way and found shelter at night. It took her three days time and on the third day she came to a pool of water. Silentstar felt drawn to the water and stopped for the rest of the day there. The terrain had now become rock with few trees for cover. Silentstar stayed by the pool of water for the day. She didn't hunt as she had eaten that morning and didn't feel hungry. As the moon came up and the stars appeared, Silentstar went by the water to sleep. She drifted off quickly but soon found herself sitting on a rock on the mountaintop. She could see the entire layout of the Clans and much more-more than she knew existed. Suddenly she felt a pelt brush hers and saw a flash of almost black fur. Startled she turned, her neckline fur rising and her lips beginning to part in a snarl. She froze as she saw a strange dark gray tom with blue-green eyes. The tom cat was not an Elder, but looked an experienced Warrior. Silentstar's eyes saw a small patch of white on the cats forehead. She narrowed her eyes as she studied the cat. He neither looked at nor acknowledged her. <Why does he look familiar? It's as if I've seen him before...> Silentstar waited quietly and looked away, relaxing slightly. Finally the tom spoke, "Silentstar you have come." Her ears pricked with interest. "You sent for me." It was somewhat of a question as well as a statement and made a bit of sense-she knew she was going somewhere although consciously she had not known where. He looked at her now and intently looked her over. She felt self-conscious, but waited. At last he nodded as if in satisfaction and in answer to what she had said. "I wanted to talk to you, but I could never get a hold of you until now." Silentstar blinked in confusion. The tom smiled kindly. "You don't remember me." He put his paw out in an only too familiar gesture. "I am Northstorm. The last time I saw you, you were a small kit." He shook his head with a chuckle. "It's no wonder you don't remember." Northstorm looked at Silentstar, his blue-green eyes filled with sadness. "You were taken to the Clan's as a kit and grew up there. It wasn't safe here so you had to be taken somewhere safe-the Clan's was the only choice. You were left in ThunderClan." Northstorm smiled with affection. "You were never alone. Although I couldn't talk to you since you lived under StarClan's skies, I've always been there and watched you grow." Silentstar had listened politely but was burning with curiosity now. She had to know. "Who are you Northstorm? Why did you want me?"Silentstar asked quietly. She stared intently, her eyes almost knowingly at him. Northstorm was quiet before he spoke. "I'm your father." Silentstar's face became blank. She had felt it and know deep down that he was more than another cat and because he looked familiar as well, but to hear Northstorm speak the words aloud-confirming it... Northstorm began to talk, almost prattling on. "The short time I knew you-you were such a quiet kit. That's how you had gotten your name-Silentpath, but when you went to the Clan's they only kept the 'Silent' part of your real name." Northstorm looked away. "You never were a true born Clan cat Silentstar." Silentstar noticed that he respected the ways of the Clan's as well as their customs as he said her leader name. "Evils and fighting ruled these cat groups up here so the best thing to do was to take you to the Clans." Northstorm tilted his head to look at the stars. Silentstar couldn't believe all of this; finally what she had always longed to know was being told to her-her past, her family, and where she had truly come from. She had never fit in with the Clan cats-even as a kit she was mostly by herself. Silentstar cleared her throat. "What evils?" Northstorm motioned down towards the land-towards ThunderClan. "Your cat has already told you that." His eyes sparkled mischievously. "The one black tom with the green eyes that you like." Silentstar smiled but her tail tip twitched. Northstorm became serious again. "You know who I mean. What he told you of the battles-they were all true. Few cat groups managed to survive or get re-established-that's why it's so quiet up here. Those that survived moved to other lands. PineTops was wiped out with many others but didn't regroup." Silentstar realized PineTops must have been her original group of cats. Northstorm went on, "As you learned and grew up in ThunderClan bloodshed was all the cats knew up here. Finally peace came with the black tom." Northstorm sighed as he finished speaking. The silence lasted awhile as Northstorm let Silentstar digest what he had told her. Silentstar turned to Northstorm. "How did you die?" She whispered, her eyes searching. Northstorm stared ahead before turning to look at her. "I was killed on my journey back from the Clans. I met an enemy cat patrol by myself. It was three cats in the patrol. I managed to kill one of them and give the other two injuries that they won't forget, but in the end I lost my life." Northstorm spoke with regret as if he should've been easily able to beat the three cats. Silentstar brushed her pelt against his comfortingly, looking into his eyes, and Northstorm smiled as he touched her shoulder affectionately with his tail. "All things happen for a reason but I wish I had been there for you Silentstar." Silentstar waved away his comment with a flick of her ear. "What's past is past but I'm glad you're here now. I had always wondered about my past." Silentstar lay her head on Northstorm's shoulder and he put his on top of her head. Father and daughter stayed that way until the moon was overhead. Northstorm shifted and faced Silentstar. "You have to go now. Return to your Clan, but if you ever need me I shall walk in your dreams and I'll always be with you as well as watching." Silentstar's eyes were filled with emotion-majorly happiness and gratitude. A shadow passed over her face. "Mother?" She asked, half-afraid of the answer. Northstorm shook his head. "Not yet young one. With time all shall be revealed but do not search for her." His voice held warning and promise as well as his message sounded much like a prophecy. Northstorm winked. "Good luck. Be well and watchful as I know you are." With that Northstorm disappeared, his presence lingering shortly before also evaporating. Silentstar opened her eyes and was back by the pool of water, the sun already overhead. Her fur was hot and she got up and stretched. Her belly rumbled and she hunted before sitting to think. Her mind played back the meeting and she sat in wonder. She got to her paws and shook herself as she turned back the way she had come. Silentstar traveled quickly now, only watching were her paws went and being careful of the other creatures. Again she hard the cat's scream, but this time she knew what it was. Her fur prickled as the name came to her and she shivered. A mountain lion. Thankfully it sounded far enough away but it seemed she was on its territory. She was happy when it no longer felt as if she was being watched and rested that night when she felt safe. A night later she was back in ThunderClan territory. She felt immense relief at the familiarity of the ground as well as shrubs. She made her way to her old hideout and slept there. Silentstar swore she felt a pelt brush hers and saw the outline of a cat as she was close to sleep. She smiled and slept fitfully. In the morning she went towards ThunderClan camp. Walking through the tunnel she felt the rightfulness of being there, yet she felt different. Although not being born here, Silentstar knew that for now at least she belonged here. ~ I lead with pride ~ This is me now as the Leader of ThunderClan-Silentstar.
